Vypr VPN is a secure VPN with self-owned servers and a strong zero-logs policy. It may not be the fastest VPN, but it’s good enough for smooth streaming and torrenting. Overall, it’s a good all-around and reasonable-priced VPN.
Vypr VPN is also a completely no-logs VPN. In its current privacy policy, it distinctly states that:
- It does not log users’ IP addresses
- It does not log the IP address assigned to users when using VyprVPN
- It does not log connection start or stop times
- It does not log users’ traffic or the content of any communications
- It is network neutral. It does not discriminate against devices, protocols, or applications
- It does not throttle or limits the internet connection speed
VyprVPN belongs to Golden Frog GmbH, which is itself owned by Powerhouse Management.
Powerhouse Management and its subsidiaries belonging to Ron and Carolyn Yokubaitis, who have been working on internet access and networking since they started Texas.net in 1994.
While it’s operated from Texas, US, Golden Frog is incorporated in Switzerland. This is a plus for user privacy, although not as big as some believe.
And recently, VyprVPN also added WireGuard, an emergent VPN protocol with impressive speed.
VyprVPN also offers a NAT firewall to block any uninvited traffic coming into your device when connected to VyprVPN.
On top of this, it features the all-important kill switch, which stops your IP address from leaking if your VPN connection drops momentarily.
Not all VyprVPN’s apps have the same advanced security features, though. For instance, the PC client has a “public wifi protection” option not available on Mac, and the Mac software has split tunneling and a malware blocker, which the Windows app doesn’t have.

Many people want to know if VyprVPN is fast. VyprVPN isn’t as fast as other top-rated VPNs, but it’s more than quick enough for browsing, streaming, and torrenting. If you aren’t playing competitively, it’s a good option for gaming too.
For this VyprVPN review, we will first examine the Vypr speed test results with the WireGuard protocol, since it is generally much faster than OpenVPN. And it tested out, to just over 300 Mbps, this is an excellent speed test result.
In other WireGuard vs. OpenVPN tests, we also found OpenVPN to be slower than WireGuard on all servers tested.
Overall, VyprVPN delivers good performance with the WireGuard VPN protocol, which you can use on Windows, Mac OS, Android, and iOS. While it is not the fastest VPN we have tested, the results are still pretty good in comparison to most other VPNs.
Is VyprVPN reliable?
VyprVPN did pretty well in the reliability category:
- Connections were stable and the speeds were good.
- No issues with application bugs or timed-out connections.
- Consistent performance throughout the day on all servers tested.
We also compared the speeds and reliability of VyprVPN vs NordVPN to make a comparison, with NordVPN coming out on top with its speeds in all locations tested.
VyprVPN privacy and security tests
VyprVPN did well in all privacy and security tests.
I ran the Windows, Mac OS, and Android apps through some basic VPN tests to check for:
- IP address leaks (both IPv4 and IPv6)
- DNS leaks
- WebRTC leaks (which affects Firefox, Chrome, and Opera browsers)
- Kill switch (to see if it is properly blocking all traffic when the VPN connection drops)
Many users are wondering about IPv6 and how VyprVPN handles this since they officially do not support IPv6. My tests found VyprVPN to effectively block IPv6 (no IPv6 leaks). Additionally, VyprVPN has implemented IPv6 blocking since version 2.7.8 released in October 2015:
Overall VyprVPN is a high-quality, fast, secure VPN that performed well. It offers a great lineup of applications that are user-friendly, secure, and reliable. The live chat support is also helpful if you need assistance getting anything set up.
