Chegg Study

The only reason I’m writing a review and giving it three stars is because of the device limit. I have no problem with it simply giving me a limit of devices. At first, I just logged in through safari on both devices and it was fine, but when I downloaded the app to use it on one of the devices I was already logged into, it read it as a new one and said that I needed to swap devices and there’s only one swap per month allowed, which I didn’t mind because I just un I need two devices because I’m not always allowed to use my phone, so if I have to choose between swapping the device and posting a question now and not being able to use this because I’m not always allowed to use my phone, or not posting the 20 questions that I’m paying to post, I don’t think it’s worth the $15. Please fix this; I’ve read the other reviews and know I’m not the only one who is upset.

Description

What is Chegg Study?

Chegg Study is an online learning service and mobile application that assists students in a variety of ways. To begin, it sells and rents used and new textbooks. Second, it offers subscription-based tutoring services for students struggling with math, homework, and writing. Thirdly, it includes a free flashcard app. Finally, it includes a section on internships and scholarships, as well as financial advice tailored to students’ needs.

The services under Chegg feel disparate and fractured, in part because some are only accessible via the website and others have their own mobile apps. Nonetheless, a few of the services, particularly those centered on math, are extremely useful. Paid services are prohibitively expensive for students, and a strict two-device limit for paying customers appears excessive. Our recommendation is to use Chegg when and where it makes sense, but read the fine print carefully.

Khan Academy is an Editors’ Choice among student learning apps, though it does not offer the same level of personalized assistance as Chegg. We prefer Quizlet over Chegg for flashcard apps because it is easier to use and has excellent multi-language support, which means you can use it in conjunction with a language-learning program. Grammarly is an incredibly useful tool for writing assistance, particularly for writers whose native language is not English, though it is also quite expensive for the student market, similar to Chegg.

How to Begin With Chegg

When creating a free Chegg account, you must indicate whether you are a student or educator and, if you are a student, your grade level (high school or college) and other information, such as the college or university you attend and your year. No one verifies this information, as far as we could tell during our testing. For example, you do not need a.edu email address to sign up. You can use any old email address and password, or you can use Apple, Google, or Facebook to authenticate.

Numerous sections are included on the site, including Books, Study, Writing, Flashcards, Math Solver, Internships, Scholarships, and Money. Chegg previously offered a tutoring marketplace, but that service is currently being phased out as of 2021.

It would be imprudent to overlook Chegg’s ethical dilemmas. Is paying Chegg or another similar service to obtain answers to questions found in textbooks considered cheating? You can always argue that a student’s use of information determines whether or not they are cheating. If they pay for answers and then pass them off as their own, this is cheating. If they’re using Chegg to gain a better understanding of how to arrive at answers, which is one of the services Chegg provides, then this may be a fruitful exercise with beneficial learning outcomes.

Subscriptions to Chegg

You can access some of it for free when you create a Chegg account, including the flashcard app, money advice, and listings for scholarships and internships. For service-oriented pieces, such as assistance with math homework or writing papers, you receive a free sample but must otherwise pay. You can purchase each service separately ($9.95-$19.95 per month) or in a bundle ($19.95 per month).
