Happn

Happn is a free mobile dating application that can be downloaded on iPhone or Android devices. It was first introduced in France in 2014, but it swiftly gained popularity throughout the world.

Happn, like the majority of other dating apps, is based on location. However, Happn’s proximity restriction distinguishes it from other dating applications such as Tinder. The entire concept of the app is based on pairing you with people you have really met (or almost met) throughout your normal day activities.

In comparison to Tinder and Bumble, Happn is an aesthetically pleasing dating app that provides a welcome respite from the continuous swiping. It’s absolutely worth a go – but keep in mind that you might end up watching an unsavoury match after you split up with someone.

Description

What is Happn?

Happn is a new dating app that was first introduced in France five months ago and has just now made its way to the United Kingdom. It’s generating a lot of interest – 100,000 individuals signed up for the app in its first five weeks of availability. Happn’s tagline is ‘find the people you’ve crossed paths with,’ which it accomplishes by assisting you in discovering other singles within a 250m radius of where you are currently located.

It works in a similar way to Tinder in that it creates your dating profile by connecting to your Facebook (though no one will ever know, and Happn will never publish anything to your page), and then all you have to do is select the gender you’re interested in dating and the age range you’re looking for in order to begin.

A list of people who are in your immediate vicinity is then provided to you using GPS tracking technology. It tells you whether you’ve crossed paths with them once or several times, and it provides you with a map of roughly where you crossed paths with them, as well as their photos, names, ages, and occupations, among other information.

PROS and CONS of Happn

Below are some list of the pros and cons of Happn:

PROS

  • Easy to create a profile.
The tester was up and running in seconds.
  •  Definitely one for the kids.
It’s hard to locate dates over 40.
  • It lists people’s jobs.
Unlike Tinder, knowing what someone does for a living might make them more appealing and, more crucially, offer you an idea of things in common.
  • Sending charms without waiting for a mutual ‘like’ is convenient.
It indicates the hot architect has seen you (and rejected you). Use them carefully; none of the charms our tester received were from an appealing match, so it looks like a last resort. You don’t want to be him.
  • Meet several handsome males.
    Lots. Ding, ding.

CONS

  •  It operates within 250m.
So it works well in densely populated areas like London but not so well in remote communities.
  • The app is currently clunky.
The tester couldn’t adjust the default age range of 18 to 70.
  •  It was difficult to converse.
The user had plenty of ‘crushes’ but no messages. As a dating app for introverted people, it may be true.
  • Not so great for serious dating.
Meeting folks within 250m allows for quick hook-ups.
