Instagram

Instagram is a free online photo-sharing application and social networking platform acquired by Facebook in 2012.
Instagram allows users to edit and upload photos and short videos via the mobile app. Users can add captions to each post and index those posts using hashtags and location-based geotags to make them searchable by other users within the app. All user-created posts will appear in your followers’ Instagram feeds and, if tagged with hashtags or geotags, will be visible to the general public. Users can also keep their profile private so that only their followers can see their posts.
Like other social networking platforms, Instagram users can use the Instagram Direct feature to rate, comment, bookmark and send private messages to their friends. Photos can be shared with one click on one or more other social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

Instagram is not only a tool for individuals, but also a tool for businesses. The photo sharing app gives businesses the opportunity to open a free business account to promote their brand or product. Companies with business accounts have access to free interaction and impression metrics. According to the Instagram website, more than 1 million advertisers around the world use Instagram to share stories and achieve business results. In addition, 60% say they have discovered a new product through the app.

Editing tools

Instagram has a variety of digital filters that you can apply to your photos, including those that add a vintage or faded look. Other editing features include Lux, an effect that brightens shadows, darkens light, and increases contrast. You can also use the photo adjustment tools to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, texture, straightness, and hue. You can also add manual tilt shifts and vignette effects to your photos.

Also, in 2017, Instagram introduced the ability for users to post multiple photos and videos displayed in carousel format at the same time. Inspired by the popular Snapchat app, Instagram introduced story features in 2016. This allows users to share the moment of the day that disappears after 24 hours. Instagram Stories integrates face filters and stickers based on augmented reality and gives you the option to add text, drawings, emojis, links and geotags directly to your photos and videos. In April 2017, Instagram Stories had 200 million active users, surpassing its biggest rival, Snapchat.
